D-Link has introduced a new line of enterprise-class wireless offerings which include converged wired / wireless Gigabit switches and two wireless access points (AP) that work in concert with these switches. The switches are code-named DWS-3024 and DWS-3026; the access points are called DWL-3500AP and DWL-8500AP.
According to a press release, D-Link’s new unified wired / wireless access systems offer a full complement of enterprise capabilities for centralized AP management, plug-and-play access points support, seamless inter-subnet roaming, dynamic power control and channel assignment, and other advanced features.
Automatic AP power and channel adjustment gives a broad umbrella of signal coverage with minimum radio interference, centralized policy management and visualized GUI of access point deployment. Additionally, armed with load balancing across the switch-managed access points, this wireless solution provides load-sharing and fail-safe capability.
Other features include layer 2 / layer 3 packet switching / routing functionality and full-line rate Gigabit speed with zero packet loss across all 24 switch ports. DWS-3026 even supports two additional 10G uplink ports. Emerging 802.11n wireless switching using Gigabit switch ports and fast L2/L3 roaming can also be done.
