Symantec Launches New Curriculum with IIHT

NWC News Network, July 9 2008, 1500 hrs

Symantec announced the launch of Symantec Academic Program with IIHT.  This program enhances the education offerings already available for businesses in India by making Symantec training solutions available to college pass outs and  people looking to transform their careers.  The curriculum will provide students with in-depth knowledge and certification on the company’s solutions as well as related IT best practices.

Offered through Symantec Education Services, partnering with IIHT, the academic program enables anyone to enroll on short and long term certificate and diploma courses, ranging from 3 months to 3 years.  Typical curriculums being offered cover VERITAS Storage Foundation, VERITAS NetBackup Administration I & II, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec Control Compliance Suite and Symantec Security Information Manager.

“The appointment of IIHT in India demonstrates our commitment to help both academia & businesses in India get the most from their investment in Symantec software and their IT functions. It has a proven track record in offering IT training services; they will play an integral role in delivering quality and world-class training for Symantec,” said Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec India.

Commenting on the partnership, Keshava Raju, CEO, IIHT said, “We are honored to be selected by Symantec as an education partner. We are optimistic that our partnership will nurture the highest level of technical competency of IT professionals so that Symantec technology is optimized and IT risks are reduced.”

In addition, students who attend the academic program have an option to sit for formal exams as part of the Symantec Certification Program.  Upon successful completion of the exams, the individual can present themselves as a ‘Symantec Certified Professional’; adding validity to and recognition of their new IT skills and greatly increasing their marketability in what is increasingly becoming a very competitive job hunting environment in India.
