Jetking to Offer UTM Training

NWC News Network, Aug. 18 2008, 1200 hrs

Watchgaurd has recently announced its partnership with Jetking Infotrain to provide training on the network security solution provider’s Unified Threat Management (UTM) products. The training institute will provide training on the company’s UTM appliances as a part of its current hardware and networking curriculum.

The company which has a presence of over a decade in India with around 3000 customers and 5000 live UTM installation plans to increase its presence in the country’s UTM market. As a part of this effort it aims to increase local awareness on the benefit of deploying UTM products in a networking environment and address the need for networking professionals who are trained to handle UTM equipment.

“In our interactions with customers, we realized that there was a growing need for professionals who understood the IT network security requirements. Our tie up with Jetking will help in creating thousands of trained professionals who understand not just the business of network security, but have hands on experience in working with a UTM appliance,” said Sunil Sapra, Country Manager, India and SAARC, Watchguard Technologies.

The training institute will provide the UTM training as a one month extended module of its 13 month Jetking Certified Hardware and Networking (JCHNP) course to existing students. Students who have already completed the course can also undergo UTM training with a program whish spans over a few weeks. The institute has already trained 20 of its franchisees with a customized courseware on the company’s Firebox X UTM appliances who in turn will be able to train students at their training centers. It looks to train at least 5000 students across its 20 top training centers in the next one year.

The company is currently targeting the growing SMB market with its UTM appliance and looks to extend its offering to the SOHO markets gradually. The company will look to provide its UTM appliances through service providers to end users on subscription basis.
