Aladdin’s Cybercrime Investigation Facility

NWC News Network, Nov. 25 2008, 1130 hrs

Aladdin Knowledge Systems has recently announced the opening of its Attack Intelligence Research Center, a facility designed for Internet security cybercrime investigation. Based at the company’s headquarters in Israel, the facility will be comprised of global security researchers and law enforcement and cybercrime specialists dedicated to delivering security data and intelligence that will educate, support and strengthen the security community and drive innovation in the company’s content security solutions.

Spearheaded by Ian Amit, Director of security research at Aladdin Knowledge Systems, the facility will go beyond traditional threat detection to provide business intelligence surrounding evolving threats, predict future trends in Internet security, and uncover the inner workings and affects of the business of eCrime. The findings will enable organizations to implement best practices and build corporate policy to protect against zero-hour and future Internet threats that compromise legitimate business safety.

“Discovering malware is only half the battle, our mission is to go beyond threat detection and malicious code to identify where the threat came from, who is benefitting from it, and how threats ultimately affect real organizations today and in the future,” said Amit. “It is only through the understanding of how these threats are developed and delivered that we can protect our businesses today, and become educated and better prepared for tomorrow.”

The center will also publish a semi-annual security trend report that will not only recapitulate the Web threats of the previous six months, but also use these findings to summarize trends in cybercrime and predict threats that will affect businesses in the next six months.
