'More Effective the use of Technology; Better the ROI'

Meheriar Patel, DGM and Head-IT, Globus Stores Private Ltd.

The role of a CIO has evolved over the last couple of years. Times have evolved since the businesses dictated approach towards technology usage and the CIO was only the tech implementer. Today the role of the CIO is more inclusive and he has to look forward and figure out how evolving technologies can map with his existing business environment.

At Globus, we are working on various technologies that can automate several pain areas and make things easier for the users across the enterprise. A CIO should realize that the best fit of technology can only arrive after business requirement is studied thoroughly. Also, the technology chosen should be able to garner quick results.

When a CIO implements a particular technology he should look at return on investment in terms of effective usage of the technology. This is the core competence that a CIO should focus today.

A CIO needs to be a team builder, strategize the team’s role and ensure that it succeeds. Aligning IT and business goals in today’s cutthroat competition is vital for a CIO.

Building a team with confidence and giving them proper skills to enhance their career within the organization is an effective way to retain the trained workforce

Management tips

1. Choose the best fit of technology for your business

2. Build cost-effective technology architecture

3. Confidence and positive attitude

4. Keep innovating
