3Com's H3C Technologies is actively getting involved in a number of the major networking infrastructure projects in Beijing, the venue city for 2008 Olympic Games.
H3C has been the principal technology partner on several Olympic-related projects including a "Good Luck Beijing" pre-event in Hong Kong, the Beijing public transportation surveillance system upgrading, the new terminal building's network for Beijing International Airport, and Sohu.com's video-on-demand service portal.
To better host the Olympic Games, Beijing City has invested a lot into the construction of infrastructures such as the spectacular stadiums of 'Bird's Nest' and the 'Water Cube'. Meanwhile, efforts to upgrade Internet and video surveillance structures are being made to facilitate the convenience and security for all participants.
H3C offers a comprehensive line of networking solutions that deliver Olympic-quality reliability, stability and performance to several key safety and information projects. Ranging from switches to IP surveillance systems, H3C's high-end products were able to meet the stringent requirements set by the project owners.
The Beijing Capital International Airport is the first contact point welcoming visitors from around the world to China's first Olympic Games. Increasing the capacity of the city's international airport was a priority, so a third terminal is being added. H3C solutions are powering a new 10G Ethernet backbone to support its routine operations, as well as real-time production and management services, including ground emergency command, airport terminal broadcasting and flight information displays.
During the planning and design of the network, H3C borrowed substantive experiences from the airport construction projects of China and other countries. The company worked closely with the airport to meet their special service requirements for different systems from departure to broadcasting, jointly improving the airport service system solution.
