Salesforce.com has appointed Steve McWhirter as president of its Asia-Pacific operations. He will report to Jim Steele, chief customer officer and president of international operations, and will be based at the company’s Singapore office.
With 20 years of sales, marketing and leadership experience, 15 of which have been spent in the Asia-Pacific market, McWhirter succeeds Stephen J. Russell, who served as president since November 2005.
McWhirter joins Salesforce.com from serving as vice president of HP Software Asia Pacific, a division of HP Technology Solutions Group, where he led an organization of nearly 500 sales, marketing, services and technical support staff. Before HP, McWhirter held positions as vice president of Red Hat Asia-Pacific and director, APAC software sales of IBM Software Group, Asia-Pacific, among others.
The Asia-Pacific region is Salesforce.com’s fastest growing region worldwide. For its fiscal year ending January 31, 2008, the company’s Asia-Pacific revenues grew more than 85 percent year-over-year.
