HP has recently announced the deployment of its IT infrastructure for the Hiranandani Group. The company will deploy its Integrity Servers and StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) as the platform of choice for Hiranandani’s existing SAP ECC 6.0 implementation across its headquarters in Mumbai and branch offices spread across Maharashtra and other parts of the country.
Operating with a team of 1200 construction engineers and staff the construction company felt the need for IT to ensure operational consistency and efficiency across the various business divisions across its many branch offices with real-time communication between them. As a part of this effort it implemented SAP ECC 6.0 in January 2008. the company has now selected HP servers and storage infrastructure to run the SAP applications with Oracle 10G databases.
“The choice of HP as the IT infrastructure partner was intuitive for our company. The deployment was a first for us and demanded a commitment of robust assistance, support and crisis management at all times, round the clock, round the year. There was no contest on reliability when it came to the Integrity Platform and EVA Storage. In addition we have also benefited from using the Integrity Virtual Machines (IVMs), storage and support services and clustering services. We needed round the clock support and more importantly feedback during the understanding and implementation stages of our business needs. All of these were met and exceeded by HP,” said Joseph Martin, General Manager, IT, Hiranandani Group.
The SAP production applications run on the Integrity rx2660 server using HP-UX 11iV2. All the production data is consolidated on the EVA4000 using SAN switches. The company uses its own separate backup software on a StorageWorks MSL2024 Tape Library with LTO drives for Data Protection. The company uses is VPN to communicate with its branch and site offices. The entire infrastructure is configured to help the company meet compliance standards.
The construction company which has around 300 users operational in the system has estimated this number to double in the next three years. It has invested around Rs 6.5 Crore in the implementation with the HP deployment taking around 25% of the total investment. The company is also considering deployment of disaster recovery solutions.
