Linksys Launches Affordable Network Storage Systems for Small Business

NWC News Network, July 10 2008, 1600 hrs

Linksys, a division of Cisco and a provider of VoIP, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and small business environments has announced its first line of small business network attached storage solutions. These include the 4 Bay Advanced Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis (NSS6000) and the 4 Bay Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis (NSS4000).

“As part of our vision to establish quality and innovation in the Small Business segment, Linksys constantly endeavours to build benefit oriented solutions for its customers. Built specifically for the small business, these robust, easy-to-use storage systems were designed with data protection and expansion in mind,” said Suresh Balasubramanian, Linskys National Sales Director.

“Each NSS offers a small business the ability to select the storage configuration that best addresses its model with management features that help provide data integrity, file protection, security, and reliability at a fraction of the cost of other available options,” he added.

The products do not include hard drives, so the small business can choose the capacity that best addresses its business needs. Installation is quick and easy with no installation CD required. Linksys does not place proprietary code or drivers on the hard drives, enabling easy “hot swapping” or interchanging of the drives.

On-disc file encryption makes highly secure offsite backup, archiving and data migration possible for small businesses with stringent requirements for data integrity such as healthcare, law offices or accounting firms. Additional options like Journaling, Hot Spares, RAID Set Failure Handling and Redundant Power Supply Units (RPSU) provide an added level of superior data integrity.

The products offer an array of advanced features typically missing from an affordable small business storage solution like Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART), on-disc file encryption allowing for highly secure offsite backup and archiving or data migration, disk failure locator LEDs that help ensure replacement of proper drive in stack and secure FTPS (FTP over SSL) access. NSS4000 is priced at Rs74,999 and NSS6000 at Rs107,999.
