TI introduces current sense monitors

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced a pair of voltage-output, high-side, current sense monitors with a wide common-mode input range of -16V to +80V. According to press release, the INA270 and INA271 feature a two-stage architecture to ease the design of circuits requiring additional filtering of the current signal. The devices are especially suited for current measurement applications in automotive, motor control, power management and battery charging.

In addition to solving the challenging problem of measuring small shunt drops residing at high common-mode voltages, filter networks can be included between the two stages of the INA270 and INA271 to preserve the buffered voltage output. As a result, no additional amplifiers are required when driving analog-to-digital converters or low impedance loads.

The devices also feature high accuracy (3 percent maximum error over temperature), wide bandwidth (130 kHz), low quiescent current (900 microAmp maximum) and specification over a -40C to +125C temperature range.
